NANOTECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS

The VC’s Nano team is researching to methods to degrade organic matter commonly found in food processing wastewater. The resulting technologies will enable clean water to be discharged into the environment, with a final product to be marketed as a stand-alone water treatment device for use in various sized environments from small commercial operations to larger industrial operations. This technology is intended to result in cost effective remediation solutions for a variety of food and beverage processors.  The team is also involved with enhanced health care outcomes related to wound treatment.

RESEARCH FOCUS

  • Photocatalytic activation of TiO2 for degradation of noxious water contaminants

  • Electrochemical production of nano graphine oxide

  • Copper oxide nano materials for biofilm reduction and wound treatment

  • DNA markers for cancer cell detection and targeted drug delivery.
